A Beautiful Piece of Sussex History: Exterior Decorating a Grade II Listed Farmhouse in Battle
Recently completed, this beautiful farmhouse in Battle, East Sussex is a Grade II listed property, with parts of the building dating back as far as the 17th century. We were asked to carry out the full external redecoration, working carefully around the property's original architecture and historic features.
With its traditional tile-hung elevations, historic brickwork and stunning leaded windows, this is a property with an incredible amount of character. As experienced heritage decorators, we understand that exterior painting and decorating on a period property requires a considered approach. The aim isn't simply to apply a fresh coat of paint, but to ensure the work complements and protects the building while respecting everything that makes it unique.
Careful preparation and sympathetic repairs were an important part of the project, helping us achieve a high-quality finish while preserving the character of this historic farmhouse. Working on listed and period properties requires particular attention to the existing materials, details and features, and we take pride in carrying out this work with the care it deserves.
A fantastic project for the REED Decorators team and one we're incredibly proud to have been involved with. It's always rewarding to see a historic East Sussex property refreshed and protected for the years ahead, while retaining the character and charm that makes it such a special piece of Sussex history.
